Which working height do you need?
The working height is the platform height plus roughly 2 metres of reach height for an average adult. Our scaffolds are available from 4.2 to 14.2 metres working height, in steps of 1 metre. A simple rule of thumb: reckon on roughly 2.5 to 3 metres per storey of a home, and add the reach height on top.
Not sure which height you need? Click on a height for an explanation of platform height, suitable applications and the matching model, or use the configurator for automatic advice.
Working height per floor
If you would rather start from the floor you need to work on instead of an exact number of metres, use the overview below as a guideline. The exact height required depends on the floor height of your specific home or building.
Hiring a scaffold with delivery in Amsterdam
Delivery and collection are always included together in one fixed price of €150 — no separate charge for collection afterwards. Our drivers run routes across the whole of the Netherlands every day, so even outside the Randstad the scaffold is usually on site quickly.
How does delivery work?
When booking, you choose your preferred delivery date. Our driver brings the scaffold to the address you provide, fully complete and including all the parts you need to assemble it yourself.
How quickly is it delivered?
In many cases we deliver within 24 hours of booking in Amsterdam. If it is busy or you have a specific preference, you simply choose a later date in the configurator.
At what time is it delivered?
We work with a delivery day rather than an exact time in advance. As soon as that day’s route is known, you can ask us for the expected arrival time.
Does someone need to be present at delivery?
It is preferable for someone to be present to confirm the delivery and to pass on any wishes about placement, but by arrangement it is also possible to leave the scaffold at an agreed spot.
Where do you place the scaffold?
We place the scaffold at the location you specify when booking: on the street, driveway, garden or yard. Please ensure a flat, accessible surface so the scaffold can be set down straight away.
How does collection after the hire period work?
On the agreed collection date we collect the scaffold again in full. You do not have to dismantle it into loose parts yourself; follow the manual to set it up ready and stable.
What if I finish earlier than planned?
Get in touch by phone or WhatsApp; where possible we will try to collect earlier, although depending on the schedule this cannot always be done on the same day.
How large is the delivery area?
We deliver to all twelve provinces of the Netherlands. The delivery price is set per province and you see it in advance in the configurator, so there is never a surprise afterwards.
What happens in bad weather on the delivery day?
In a storm or very heavy rain the schedule may shift by arrangement, particularly if it is not responsible to assemble safely at that moment. We then contact you ourselves to agree an alternative date.
Can I still change the delivery date after booking?
Yes, changes are possible as long as the schedule allows. Please get in touch as soon as possible by phone or WhatsApp, preferably a few days before the original date.
How does the deposit work?
In addition to the hire price, you pay a deposit when booking. This is standard when hiring professional equipment and, with us, works transparently and quickly.
Why do you ask for a deposit?
Unfortunately, our mobile scaffolds are prone to theft and represent a considerable value. The deposit covers this risk and is fully refunded as soon as the scaffold comes back complete and undamaged.
How much is the deposit?
The amount of the deposit depends on the model and the working height; the higher the scaffold, the higher the deposit. You can see the exact amount per variant in the configurator and on the product page.
When do I get the deposit back?
Within 1 working day after the scaffold has been collected or returned complete and undamaged, we refund the deposit to your account.
How do I pay the deposit?
The deposit is paid together with the hire price when completing your booking, via the same online payment.
What if the scaffold comes back damaged?
In the case of damage that does not fall under normal signs of use, part of the deposit is withheld in consultation to cover the repair costs. With a complete, undamaged return you receive the full amount back.
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay online via the common payment methods in the configurator. For business customers and HOAs, payment on invoice is also possible in consultation, with the same deposit arrangement.
Can the HOA or the company be invoiced separately?
Yes, on request we make out the invoice in the name of the HOA, the company or the client, including VAT specification, even if the booking is made by an individual resident or employee.
Working safely on a mobile scaffold
A mobile scaffold is only safe if it is assembled and used correctly. Our scaffolds meet the standard, but the user remains responsible for correct assembly and use.
What is EN 1004?
EN 1004 is the European standard for mobile scaffolds made from prefabricated elements. Scaffolds that meet this standard are tested for stability, material strength and a safe assembly sequence. The RS Tower 5 series from Altrex meets this standard.
How do I assemble a mobile scaffold safely?
Always follow the supplied manual and assemble the scaffold in the prescribed sequence, from the bottom up, with each floor fully locked before you build any further.
What should I check before use?
Check that all wheels are on the brake, that the stabilisers are correctly folded out and secured, and that all guardrails are in place before you step onto the platform.
What kind of surface do I need?
A mobile scaffold must stand on a flat, firm surface. On soft ground such as grass we recommend driving plates or scaffold pads under the wheels.
Am I allowed to work in strong wind?
No, we advise against working at wind force 6 or higher, certainly not at greater working heights.
How much weight is allowed on the platform?
Our scaffolds are designed for normal use by one to two people with hand tools and materials; consult the manual for the exact maximum weight per model.
Can I get professional advice on the right height?
Yes, use the configurator for automatic advice, or get in touch by phone or WhatsApp for personal advice about your specific situation.
How do I keep the surroundings safe during use?
Always put the wheels on the brake as soon as the scaffold is in place, and keep children and pets away from an assembled scaffold. Do not leave loose tools on the guardrail, but keep them in a tool bag.
Can a mobile scaffold stand close to electricity cables?
Always keep sufficient distance from overhead electricity cables or lines. If you are unsure about the safe distance for your job, get in touch with us beforehand for advice.
Can I use the scaffold in frost or slippery conditions?
In frost, black ice or on a wet, slippery surface we advise against using the scaffold until the surface and the platform are dry and safe to walk on again.
Amsterdam in focus: common situations

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can I hire a scaffold in Amsterdam?
In many cases we can deliver the same or the next working day in Amsterdam. Order before 15:00 and delivery the next working day is usually possible. For urgent requests you can let us know by phone or via WhatsApp.
What does it cost to hire a scaffold?
The hire price depends on the model and the working height. For an RS51, reckon on around 12,50 euros per metre per week, with delivery costs and deposit as separate items. See the exact prices in the configurator above.
Is delivery included in the hire price?
No, delivery is calculated separately based on distance and region. The delivery price is clearly shown in advance, with no hidden costs.
Do I need to be home for delivery?
Yes, we ask that someone is present to discuss the placement and to take receipt of the scaffold. This prevents misunderstandings about the desired location.
Do you also assemble the scaffold?
For most orders the scaffold is assembled safely and completely by our fitters in accordance with EN1004. Hire without assembly is also possible in some cases; ask about the options.
How high can a mobile scaffold be assembled?
Our RS51 and RS52 are available up to a working height of 14,2 metres. For greater heights, additional wind load and anchoring requirements apply, which we go through with you in advance.
What is the difference between working height and platform height?
The platform height is the height of the working surface itself. The working height is the platform height plus roughly 2 metres of reach for an average adult. See our knowledge base page for a detailed explanation.
Which scaffold do I need for exterior painting?
For most homes an RS51 or RS52 is suitable, depending on the desired stability and width. Based on your facade height, our configurator gives suitable advice straight away.
Can I also collect the scaffold myself?
Yes, self-collection is possible at our depot and saves delivery costs. Do keep in mind that you need a suitable trailer or van, as the parts are relatively long.
Why do I have to pay a deposit?
The deposit covers any damage or loss of parts during the hire period. On correct and complete return, you get the full deposit back.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit varies per model and hire period and is clearly communicated in advance. See the section about the deposit on this page for the exact amounts per product.
When do I get my deposit back?
After the scaffold has been checked at collection or return, the deposit is usually refunded to your account within a few working days.
Is a mobile scaffold from the DIY store not cheaper?
A DIY-store scaffold may seem cheaper, but often lacks the stability, certification and completeness of a professional Altrex scaffold. See the comparison section above for the details.
Is the scaffold safe for use by a private individual?
Yes, provided it is assembled and used according to the instructions. During assembly our fitters run through a safety check with you, and we always provide instructions on maximum load and wind conditions.
What if it is very windy during my job?
At wind force 6 or higher we advise against working on the scaffold, and it should be anchored or taken down if necessary. We give concrete advice about this during assembly.
Can the scaffold stand on any surface?
The scaffold needs a flat, load-bearing surface. On soft ground, grass or uneven paving we use base plates to distribute the weight properly.
Does the scaffold fit through a narrow gate or passage?
The RS51 is specially designed for narrow passages from around 70 cm. If you are unsure whether the scaffold fits, measure the narrowest passage and consult our team.
Can I hire the scaffold for several weeks?
Yes, hire periods can be flexibly extended. The longer you hire, the more favourable the price per week often works out.
What happens if my job is finished earlier?
You can have it collected earlier than planned. Depending on the remaining hire period and the moment of notification, we settle this where possible.
Do you also deliver to business parks?
Yes, we deliver both to private homes and to business parks, HOA properties and commercial construction. Contact us for bespoke solutions on larger projects.
Can a painting company also hire from you?
Certainly, we regularly work with painting companies and contractors who want to hire equipment rather than buy and maintain it themselves.
Is the MiTower suitable for indoor work?
The MiTower is compact, light and quick to assemble, which makes it suitable for indoor work such as painting ceilings or installation work.
What is the difference between RS51 and RS52?
The RS52 is wider and offers more stability and working space, while the RS51 is more compact and fits better in narrow spaces. See the comparison table above.
Do I need my own tools to assemble it?
No, with guided assembly by our fitters you do not need your own tools. For self-collection and assembly we recommend following the supplied instructions.
Can I book online or do I have to call?
You can book directly online via the configurator on this page. If you prefer personal advice, we are also happy to help you by phone or via WhatsApp.
What if the scaffold gets damaged during the hire period?
Report damage to us as soon as possible. Normal wear and tear falls outside the deposit scheme, but for significant damage part of the deposit may be withheld.
Can I use the same scaffold for several jobs?
Yes, many customers move the scaffold themselves during the hire period to another spot on the same property, as long as this is done safely and according to instructions.
Do you also deliver to an apartment complex?
Yes, we have experience with delivery at apartments and HOA properties, including coordination about communal set-up spots and accessibility.
How many people can work on the scaffold at the same time?
This depends on the model and the maximum load stated in the product specifications. We always provide this at assembly and in the documentation.
Can I have solar panels installed using your scaffold?
Yes, many installers hire a scaffold from us for safe access to the roof when installing or maintaining solar panels.
Do you also offer advice on which scaffold fits best?
Yes, use the configurator for automatic advice based on height and application, or contact us via WhatsApp for personal advice.
How quickly is a room scaffold delivered in Amsterdam?
In many cases we deliver within 24 hours in Amsterdam. When booking you choose your preferred delivery and collection date.
What does delivery cost in Amsterdam?
Amsterdam is in the province of Noord-Holland. Delivery and collection together cost €150, regardless of the number of hire days.
Can I also collect the scaffold myself instead of having it delivered from Amsterdam?
Yes. You can collect free of charge by appointment at our warehouse at Zeeburgerpad 89, 1019 AD Amsterdam, even if you work in Amsterdam.
What customers say
Our customer rating is the average across all mobile scaffold, room scaffold and MiTower hires that Steigertaxi.nl carries out throughout Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland. We deliberately do not show separate, individual review quotes per city or per application on this page — we would not be able to substantiate those separately per city or job. Instead we show the honest, verified overall figure that every customer contributes to, regardless of whether the scaffold was used for painting, gutter replacement, facade maintenance or another application.
