What the delivery rate covers

Delivery and collection are one amount with us, fixed per province. You pay it once, with the order, and both journeys are in it: the run that brings the scaffold and the run that picks it up at the end. The rate runs from €150 in the core area to €350 for the province furthest from Amsterdam. Which amount applies to your province is listed on delivery costs.

No meter starts running per kilometre and no fuel surcharge is added on top. The amount does not change with the rental period either. Whether the scaffold stands at your place for three days or thirty, it is still two journeys, so the delivery rate stays exactly the same.

The rental itself is separate and starts at €50 per day, up to €325 for the tallest models (mobile scaffold hire costs). The longer you hire, the less a day costs, because every day after the first is 5% of the day rate, or €3 (scaffold hire price per week). The deposit is a third amount, refunded within one working day after return (scaffold hire deposit).

Why there are rate groups per province

Every scaffold leaves from Zeeburgerpad 89 in Amsterdam. The further away the province, the longer the driver is on the road, and that happens twice per hire: once to bring it and once to fetch it. That difference has to sit somewhere, and we catch it in groups rather than calculating a journey price per address.

The advantage of groups is that you can check the amount before you order. Two addresses in the same province pay the same, even if one sits close to the provincial border and the other in the middle of it. So you never have to wait for a quote to know what delivery costs.

The whole of the Netherlands falls within the delivery area, so the question is not whether we come but which rate group your address falls into. Where we drive is listed on our service area.

The spot where the scaffold is put down

The driver gets as close as possible to the spot you point out and puts the parts down there. You assemble it yourself, with the manual and the instruction video at hand; we do not deliver assembled and we do not build it for you. In practice the unloading spot and the assembly spot are the same place, so clear it in advance.

The ground under the scaffold has to be level and firm. The weight of the scaffold plus everything on it goes into the ground through four wheels, and with load class 3 under EN 1004 you can count on 200 kg per square metre. On tiles, paving or asphalt that is no issue. On grass, sand or loose soil a wheel sinks in and the scaffold stands crooked, so there you need driving plates or solid pads.

• A gate or passage wide enough for the longest part, the 245 cm platform
• Level, paved ground for the scaffold itself
• Clear space around the spot, so no bikes, skips or garden furniture that still have to be moved
• Someone to point out the spot to the driver and take in the material

Parking and a permit in a city centre

The van has to be able to stand still at the address, close enough to the unloading spot that the parts do not have to be carried a hundred metres. In a residential street that is rarely a problem. In a city centre it can be: paid parking, loading windows, bollards, one way streets, or a canal side where unloading is not allowed.

Whatever needs arranging there, you arrange yourself with your municipality in advance. Think of reserving a parking space for the unloading day, an exemption for the loading windows, or a permit if the scaffold is going to stand on public ground. Make sure the date on such a permit matches the delivery day, because a permit that only starts a day later is no help to the driver.

How the delivery day works

Order before 15:00 and the scaffold is with you the next working day, wherever in the Netherlands you are. We work with a day, not with a time. The route is planned per day and the order depends on the addresses in it, so the driver could arrive at half past eight or late in the afternoon.

So do not fill the delivery day with work you cannot interrupt, and keep your phone nearby. For the job itself that usually matters little: the day the scaffold arrives is also the day you assemble it.

One thing has to be settled before the driver sets off: payment must be in at the latest one day before delivery. If the money arrives later, the delivery moves to a following day. If you need the scaffold urgently, read what is still possible in urgent scaffold hire.

If nobody is there when the driver arrives

Someone has to be present. A complete mobile scaffold is a substantial stack of parts and a driver does not leave that unattended on the street. If nobody opens the door, the material goes back with the driver and a new delivery day is agreed, which pushes your job back.

That is easy to avoid, and it does not have to be you. A neighbour, your client, a colleague on site or someone at home can take in the material just as well, as long as that person knows where it has to go. Give a second phone number with your order of someone who is reachable that day.

Exactly the same applies to the collection day. Then too, someone has to be able to bring the driver to the material and open the gate.

The collection day and what has to be ready

Collection works the same way as delivery: on an agreed day, without a time. What you do beforehand is take the scaffold apart again and stack the parts in the place the driver can reach. A scaffold still standing assembled cannot go on the van.

Check the parts before they go back. A clamp, a brace or a locking pin is easily still lying in the garden, and whatever does not come back is taken off the deposit. What to check for that is set out in getting your scaffold deposit back.

If the job overruns, tell us before the collection day arrives. Extending only costs you the extra rental days at 5% each, whereas a second delivery means paying the full delivery rate all over again.

When collecting it yourself in Amsterdam is cheaper

Collecting it yourself is free, by appointment, at Zeeburgerpad 89 in Amsterdam. That removes the delivery rate entirely, so you save €150 to €350, depending on where you are. Against that, you drive four journeys instead of none: there and back to fetch it, and there and back to return it.

The sum is straightforward. If you are in Amsterdam or just outside it, collecting is almost always the cheapest choice: the drive is short and it costs you an hour at most. If you are on the other side of the country, collecting costs you half a day and two full round trips, and delivery is the calmer answer even though the rate there is the highest.

For the transport: the parts come loose, but the longest piece is the 245 cm platform. So you need a van or a trailer with a load floor of at least 245 cm, plus straps. An RS51 at 75 cm wide loads more easily than an RS52 at 135 cm, and a MiTower is the smallest of the lot. One difference is often overlooked: the deposit for self collection is not the same amount as for delivery. Count on €1.000 for an RS51 or RS52 and €750 for a MiTower when you collect, against €500 on delivery. For a room scaffold it is €150 in both cases.
