Frequently asked questions
What does it cost to hire a mobile scaffold for one day?
€50 to €325 for the first rental day, depending on the model and the working height. Delivery and collection come on top as a fixed amount per province, or fall away if you collect it yourself in Amsterdam.
Does the delivery day count as a rental day?
Yes, the day the scaffold is delivered is rental day one. The collection day is the last rental day, so delivery on Monday with collection on Tuesday is two rental days.
What does a second day cost?
€3, which is 5% of the daily rate. Every further day costs the same, so two extra days cost €3 twice.
Can I order today and have the scaffold tomorrow?
Yes, if your order is in before 15:00 delivery follows the next working day, anywhere in the Netherlands. Payment does have to be in at the latest one day before delivery.
What does a weekend cost?
€55 for roughly three rental days, with delivery on Friday and collection on Monday. There is no delivery or collection at the weekend.
Is hiring per day cheaper than a longer period?
For one to three days it is, after that the gap narrows because each extra day only costs 5%. Where the tipping point falls is set out in hiring per day or per week.
Do I have to assemble the scaffold myself?
Yes, you assemble it yourself with the manual and the instruction video supplied. Steigertaxi delivers the equipment unassembled and collects it unassembled, so count that time into your first and your last rental day.
What the first rental day costs
Hiring a mobile scaffold costs €50 to €325 for the first day. The difference comes from the working height and the width of the model. The narrow RS51 is 75 cm wide, the wide RS52 is 135 cm, both with a 245 cm platform and a working height up to 14.2 metres. The higher you go, the more frames and platforms are involved, and that shows in the daily rate.
The first rental day is charged in full. Every day after that costs 5% of that daily rate, so €3. For a short hire that is the only sum that really matters: the step from nothing to one day is big, the step from one day to two is small.
Delivery and collection sit outside this. They are one fixed amount per province, with no mileage, and that amount does not change when you keep the scaffold a day longer. Your province is listed on delivery costs. Collecting it yourself at Zeeburgerpad 89 in Amsterdam is free by appointment. All cost items together are set out on what hiring a mobile scaffold costs.
When a rental day starts and when it ends
A rental day is a calendar day, not a 24 hour block that starts the moment the driver pulls away. The day the scaffold is delivered is rental day one. The day it is collected is the last rental day. Everything in between counts, including a day you do nothing.
That makes the delivery day the one to watch. Order before 15:00 and the scaffold is with you the next working day, but not at a fixed hour. If the delivery arrives in the afternoon, the morning of rental day one is gone before you have climbed a single rung.
The same applies at the other end. On the collection day the scaffold has to be dismantled and stacked, ready before the driver arrives, not while he waits at the kerb. A scaffold still standing cannot be loaded, and the hire simply keeps running.
Why a one day job is often two rental days
The work takes a day, the hire rarely does. On the day the scaffold arrives you assemble it yourself, using the manual and the instruction video that come with it. Steigertaxi does not deliver it assembled and does not build it for you. A low set up is quick, a ten metre working height takes a good part of the morning.
After that you want a full working day up on the platform. And at the end of it the scaffold has to come down, stacked and ready for the driver. Assembling, painting a facade or replacing a gutter, and dismantling rarely fit into one working day together, certainly not when the delivery lands after the morning.
So most people plan two rental days: delivery on day one, work and dismantle, collection on day two. That second day costs €3. For that amount you buy back the whole working day that would otherwise go into assembling and waiting.
Planning a one day job without wasting a rental day
Most wasted rental days are created before the scaffold arrives, not afterwards.
- Order before 15:00 and delivery follows the next working day, anywhere in the Netherlands.
- Make sure payment has arrived at the latest one day before delivery, otherwise the delivery shifts and your whole job shifts with it.
- Clear the spot where the scaffold will stand before the driver arrives, including the route to it.
- Watch the instruction video and read the manual before delivery, so assembly is not a puzzle.
- Have tools, paint and materials ready, so rental day one starts with work instead of errands.
- Dismantle at the end of your working day, not on the morning of the collection day.
- Fix your working height in advance with the rule platform height plus 2 metres, so no model turns out to be just too short.
What one, two and three days cost
The build up is the same every time: one full daily rate, then 5% for each extra day.
A third day costs another €3. On a job with an uncertain schedule, painting where the first coat has to dry before the second goes on, that third day is cheaper than the risk of the equipment leaving too early. If you are unsure how many days you need, how many days to hire a scaffold works through it.
| Rental period | How the price is built up | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | full daily rate | €50 to €325 |
| 2 days | daily rate plus 5% once | daily rate plus €3 |
| 3 days or a weekend | daily rate plus 5% twice | €55 |
A weekend counts as about three days
Delivery on Friday and collection on Monday is three rental days and costs €55. Saturday and Sunday are not working days for delivery or collection, so a scaffold that arrives on Friday goes back on Monday at the earliest.
To get a Friday delivery your order has to be in before 15:00 on Thursday, with payment in by Thursday as well. Miss that and delivery moves to Monday, which costs you the weekend you were planning around.
For anyone working weekdays that fixed shape is usually an advantage. Assemble on Friday afternoon or evening, work Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday morning only dismantle and stack. You pay three rental days and keep two full working days.
When one rental day really is enough
One day works when you collect the equipment yourself. You pick it up in the morning at Zeeburgerpad, assemble, work, dismantle and return it the same day. There is no delivery window to wait for and no driver to wait on. Collection is free and by appointment, and you do need transport for it, a van or a trailer.
It also works with smaller equipment. The MiTower is a one person scaffold up to 6 metres working height, and the RS44 room scaffold fits through a standard interior door from about 70 cm. Both go up faster than an RS52 at ten metres, which is exactly the time that makes a one day job overrun. The models are on MiTower hire and room scaffold hire.
And it works for sharply defined work: one window frame, one light fitting, one section of gutter, a smoke alarm on a high ceiling. If you do not know the height you need yet, pick the model first through working height and plan your day after that.
Delivery or self collection on a short hire
On a hire of one to three days the delivery charge weighs more heavily than on a long period, simply because it is spread over fewer rental days. Delivery and collection are one fixed amount per province, from €150 in the core area to €350 in the furthest province, and that amount is the same whether you hire for one day or three.
Collecting it yourself removes that amount entirely, but costs you transport and a slice of your day. Either way, count on the deposit, which comes back within one working day after return; the amounts per model are on scaffold deposit. If you are unsure which route suits your job, send it over on WhatsApp and we work it out together.
Hire for longer than three days, or let a job overrun, and the bill moves into a weekly rate where separate days are no longer the cheapest form; that is covered on mobile scaffold hire price per week.
